December 2006 Toyofuji Installs Defibrillator
|
|
Toyofuji Shipping installed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on 19 December.
An AED is a medical device used to restore normal heart rhythm to patients in cardiac arrest by applying an electric shock to the heart. In recent years,AEDs have been installed in many public places throughout Japan.
Toyofuji also held a seminar to train employees in the operation of the device, so that it can be used immediately if the need ever arises. |

December 2006 Toyofuji Holds Bon Voyage Concert for 2006.

On 8 December, Toyofuji Shipping hosted its annual Toyofuji Bon Voyage Concert. The classical concert by the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra featured four performances, including Sibelius' Violin Concerto and Mozart's Symphony No. 41. The invited audience was thrilled by the spectacular, bright melodies. |

December 2006 Toyofuji Makes Donation to Local Childcare Facility
|
|
Toyofuji Shipping has made a monetary donation to a childcare facility in Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture, which it has supported for many years as part of its corporate social responsibility activities.
In addition to an official donation from the company, the amount also included the proceeds from a charity bazaar held at the company and money collected from other voluntary activities conducted by Toyofuji employees. Some former employees also donated part of their retirement payments to the cause.
Toyofuji will continue to provide heartfelt cooperation and support to the facility. |

November 2006 Inauguration of HOTOKU MARU
|
|
On 17 November, Toyofuji inaugurated HOTOKU MARU, the fourth and final vessel to be built in its domestic fleet new ship building program. Like its sister ships, TOYOFUJI MARU, TOYOFUKU MARU and HOUSHO MARU, the HOTOKU MARU is one of the largest car-carrier vessels in Japan. With environmental measures as the most important consideration, it has been fitted with the very latest in environmental equipment. A variety of innovations have also been adopted to increase loading efficiency, including a wide direct jumping slope, center rampway and direct loading trailer deck, as part of Toyofuji's goal of achieving innovative integrated land and sea transport systems.
The completion of these four state-of-the-art large vessels has enabled Toyofuji to respond to Toyota Motor Corporation's increased domestic production, and to provide an even higher level of service to its customers. |

October 2006 On-Board Emergency Training Demonstration
|
|
On 20 October, Toyofuji held its on-board emergency training demonstration for 2006 on the TRANS FUTURE 6, which is currently in port at the Tokai Center. Conducted under the guidance of the Nagoya Coast Guard Office, the training was observed by invited guests from relevant organizations, shippers and ship-owners, including the Chubu District Transport Bureau, Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Transportation. Besides the training objective itself, the event aimed to raise awareness of safety. The participating crew members all threw themselves wholeheartedly into the drills. Toyofuji considers the safe operation of its vessels as its top priority and will continue in its active pursuit of safety activities. |

Toyofuji Shipping exhibited at the Messe Nagoya 2006 Eco-Industrial Trade Fair, which was held from Thursday, October 19 through Saturday,October 21, 2006 to highlight ecologically-minded businesses.
Toyofuji Shipping's booth, with its theme of "Caring for the Ocean", featured a video introducing the company's environmental efforts, models of Toyofuji vessels and panel displays that promoted Toyofuji Shipping efforts to protect the environment. |

October 2006 Toyofuji Logistics Dojo Established
|

On October 18, Toyofuji Shipping opened the Toyofuji Logistics Dojo (training center) on the first floor of the I-2 Workers' Wing of the Meiko Center at company headquarters.
The Toyofuji Logistics Dojo will be used for a wide variety of training activities, including basic education and training for Toyota CBU logistics, work procedures, safety and quality training, and other human resources development. |

September 2006 Inauguration of HOUSHO MARU
|

The HOUSHO MARU, the third vessel to be built under Toyofuji's fleet new ship building program, was inaugurated on 15 September. The new ship will be used for domestic marine shipping services in Japan. Like the two new vessels that have already been launched, the HOUSHO MARU was developed in a joint project with Toyota Transportation for the development of innovative transport systems that integrate land and sea transport. In a bid to achieve high efficiency and environmental friendliness through optimal quality, the new vessel, one of the largest car carrier ships in Japan, has been fitted with a deck for direct trailer loading and is fully equipped with energy-saving and environmentally-friendly equipment. Toyofuji plans to launch one more vessel of the same class before the end of this year as it strives to strengthen its fleet to cope with the increase in Toyota Motor Corporation's domestic production. |

July 2006 Toyofuji Receives Minister's Prize for Special Contributions to Maritime Industry in "Ocean Day" Awards

On 20 July at the Kaiun Club in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Toyofuji Shipping was presented with the Minister's Prize for special contributions to statistical research in the maritime industry.
In the presence of the Minister, Senior Vice-Minister and Parliamentary Secretary for Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Commandant of the Japan Coast Guard, Toyofuji's Vice-President Tadaaki Hamabata accepted the Certificate of Award on the company's behalf. Toyofuji was recommended for the award by the Nagoya Port Authority for the large volume, speed and accuracy of statistical data on cargo volumes (CBUs and trailers) compiled by Toyofuji's Domestic Shipping Division and provided regularly to the Port Authority. |

June 2006 Toyofuji Signs Disaster Relief Accord with Cities of Tokai and Kamaishi

On 30 June, a ceremony was held at the Tokai City Hall in Aichi Prefecture to commemorate the signing of an agreement for the emergency transport by ship of disaster relief supplies. Under the agreement, which was concluded between Toyofuji Shipping, Tokai City in Aichi Prefecture and Kamaishi City in Iwata Prefecture, Toyofuji Shipping will transport relief supplies by ship in the event of disasters such as earthquakes or tsunami. The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Kazuo Ozawa of Kamaishi City and Mayor Atsuo Suzuki of Tokai City, as well as many other representatives of the two cities. Toyofuji Shipping was represented by company President Kunio Komada and other executives and officials of the company. In his speech, Mr Komada said, 'We are honoured to be able to make whatever small contribution we can to help as corporate citizens of Tokai City.' |

June 2006 Toyofuji Makes Donation to Java Earthquake Victims

Toyofuji Shipping has made a monetary donation to the victims of the recent earthquake in Central Java, Indonesia. The donation, which was made through the Aichi Prefectural Chapter of the Japan Red Cross, will be used to aid people who have suffered as a result of the disaster. Toyofuji wishes to express its sincere sympathy and condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake and to those who are facing such hardships in the wake of the tragedy.

June 2006 Toyofuji Conducts Annual Volunteer Harbor Clean-Up Operation

On 24 June, Toyofuji once again conducted its volunteer harbour clean-up operation, an event that is held every year as part of ToyofujiÅfs contributions to environmental protection. Toyofuji employees enthusiastically collected trash floating in the waters of the Port of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, where ToyofujiÅfs Head Office is located. They did so from a sense of gratitude to the sea, to which our company is so indebted. |

On 31 May, Toyofuji Shipping held its own No Smoking Day to coincide with World No Tabacco Day and Toyota No Smoking Day.
Smoking areas were closed, Quit Smoking posters were displayed, and cigarette vending machines (inside Toyota facilities) were turned off for the day.The main aim of the event was to promote the good health of Toyofuji employees. |

April 2006 Domestic marine transport services launched in Indonesia |
PT. TOYOFUJI SERASI INDONESIA (TFSI), the domestic shipping company established by Toyofuji in Indonesia in a joint venture with local Indonesian companies and affiliated companies, has commenced domestic marine transport services in Indonesia.
The initial service, which links the Indonesian capital of Jakarta (West Java) with Medan, a major city in the north of Sumatra, will transport CBUs. TFSI also plans to establish a new route to Surabaya in East Java later in the year. Along with Toyofuji's Indonesian logistics company, PT. TOYOFUJI LOGISTICS INDONESIA, TFSI will continue to develop even more domestic shipping services that are sure to satisfy Indonesian car manufacturers and distributors. |

April 2006 Toyofuji Inaugurates TRANS FUTURE 7 |
In early April, Toyofuji inaugurated the car-carrier vessel, TRANS FUTURE 7, for use on its Oceania routes.
The new vessel, which is one of the largest car-carrier vessels in the world, was built in response to Toyofuji's policies of slimming down its fleet, increasing vessel size, minimizing costs and maximizing shipments. Joining its sister ships, TRANS FUTURE 5 and TRANS FUTURE 6, TRANS FUTURE 7 will contribute to the strengthening of Toyofuji's transport capacity on its Oceania routes, for which shipping demand is vigorous. The introduction of energy-conserving vessels such as the TRANS FUTURE 7 will enable Toyofuji to cut down drastically on its CO2 emissions, making a major contribution to the protection of the global environment. |

On 6 April, the Toyofuji Top Management Tour for 2006 was held at Toyota Motor Corporation's Tahara Center. The tour is designed to reaffirm regular work procedures and encourage staff, with the aim of further promoting safety procedures in line with the increase in Toyofuji's handling of Toyota CBUs, which are its major cargo. Top executives from Toyofuji and affiliated companies participated in the tour, which included a tour of the facility, reports on safety activities and lively discussions. The event played a major part in heightening safety awareness. |

March 2006 Soba Noodle-Making Event at Childcare Facility

As a part of our company's contributions to society, a soba noodle-making event for the children of a childcare facility in Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture was held on 29 March. The event, which has become an annual event on the Toyofuji Shipping calendar, aims to allow the children at the facility to experience of soba noodle-making, something that they would not normally have the chance to do, while also developing friendships with the directors and employees of Toyofuji who participated. The company's President also joined in and a wonderful time was had by both the children and the participants from Toyofuji. |

March 2006 Toyofuji Holds Seminar on Maritime Accidents

On 16 March, a seminar on maritime accidents was held at Toyofuji Shipping's Head Office. Guest lecturers from outside the company were invited to give presentations at the seminar. The aim of the event was for the entire company to take a fresh look at maritime accidents, incidents and infringements of the law and to deepen our understanding of these issues, which have such a major impact on Toyofuji as a ship operator and manager. Toyofuji pledges to place even more efforts into safe operations in the future. |

On February 10, Toyofuji inaugurated the car-carrier vessel, TRANS FUTURE 6, for use on its Oceania routes.
The new vessel was built in response to Toyofuji's policies of slimming down its fleet, increasing vessel size, minimizing costs and maximizing shipments. It is one of the largest car-carrier vessels in the world.
In addition to car shipments, Toyofuji's Oceania routes are used to ship wooden products, motorboats and other cargo from New Zealand to Japan. Toyofuji will continue to provide even better services on its Oceania routes, which have been strengthened by the inauguration of the TRANS FUTURE 6. |

January 2006 Innovative Large Ship "TOYOFUKU MARU" Inaugurated on Japan Domestic Marine Routes |
On January 23, Toyofuji inaugurated the TOYOFUKU MARU, a large-scale innovative vessel and one of the largest-class vessels on Japan's domestic marine transport routes.
The TOYOFUKU MARU is the second vessel to be built under the "Ocean and Land Transport Synergy Project", Toyofuji's joint project with Toyota Transport for the development of innovative transport systems that integrate land and sea transport, after the TOYOFUJI MARU, which was inaugurated in December 2005. It is fitted with state-of-the-art technology for safety, environmental protection, low costs and energy conservation, and will make a major contribution in future to the upgrading of transport capacity in response to the increase in Toyota Motor Corporation's domestic production.
Toyofuji plans to introduce two more vessels of the same class this year to boost its fleet even further. |

January 2006 First Toyota Cars Exported to China from Hakata Port |
The port of Hakata, in Fukuoka Prefecture, is set to become a major center for the export of CBUs from Japan to China, and on January 17, the first shipment of CBUs left Hakata.
The vessel carrying this memorable debut shipment from Hakata Port is the FUJIMARINE. A gala ceremony to commemorate the achievement was held on the same day, hosted by the Fukuoka Port and Harbor Bureau.
Until now, Nagoya Port, in Aichi Prefecture, has been the center for exports of Toyota Motor Corporation's CBUs to China from Japan, but Toyofuji now plans to improve its marine transport services by taking advantage of Hakata's closer geographical proximity to China. |

January 2006 Service Functions of Toyofuji's Toyota Office Moved |
On January 1, the service functions that had been conducted by Toyofuji Shipping's Toyota Office, were transferred to Head Office (33-3 Shinpo-machi, Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture). The reason behind the transfer was the centralization of functions to strengthen cooperation with related divisions and to improve efficiency. |
