November 2009 Toyofuji Exhibits at Messe Nagoya 2009

Messe Nagoya 2009 was held over four days on 12-15 November and Toyofuji took part as we did last year. Launched in 2006, Messe Nagoya is an international trade fair that provides companies and groups, regardless of their business-type or scale, with the opportunity to disseminate information on their environmental technologies, products, and services in a variety of fields. This year, there were 345 exhibitors and around 44,000 visitors.
Messe Nagoya's theme for this year was safety, reliability and trust. In its exhibit, Toyofuji used a quiz format and hands-on exhibits to demonstrate the improvements that have been made in operational safety with the advancement of ship-to-shore communications. Through demonstrations of the operation of vessel operations management systems and safety equipment and exhibits of nautical charts, visitors to the Toyofuji booth gained an understanding of the attention that Toyofuji pays to safety amidst the geographical complexity and high volume of vessel traffic in Nagoya Port. The exhibit proved very popular, with many visitors commenting that they found it very educational.

Mr Kiichiro Yokota, an automobile and environmental commentator and the first Japanese to race in the Paris-Dakar Rally, has finished his journey around Australia driving in a Toyota Prius. As the leader of Team ACP, Mr Yokota had already traveled 50,000 km across the other four continents since 1999 before arriving in Australia, and his quest to conquer the world's five continents in Prius vehicles has now been achieved. Toyofuji assisted Mr Yokota with export and import customs clearance procedures and with shipping the Prius to Australia.
On 30 July, the team set off from Sydney towards the Gold Coast. From there, they headed inland, crossing the continent via Ayers Rock, which is sometimes known as the Ònavel of the EarthÓ, before arriving in Perth, Australia's western-most city. From Perth, they then traveled east along the southern coast, passing through Adelaide and Melbourne. Covering 13,500 km in 30 days, the team reached their final destination of Sydney on 30 August.
Commenting on his Australian journey, Mr Yokota said, ' ÒAll's well that begins wellÓ, and EcoCamp in Australia 2009 certainly did have a wonderful beginning. With Toyofuji's assistance, the export and import customs clearance and the shipping of our Prius went very smoothly and we were able to get off to a speedy start on our Australian journey. We are extremely grateful for Toyofuji's support.' The Prius driven by Team ACP in Australia will be exhibited at various locations throughout Japan, including Toyota Drive Kingdom in Motegi (Tochigi Prefecture) and the Airship Eco Festival at Tokyo's Komazawa Park.
Details of Team ACP's Australian travels can be found on the Team's website:

April 2009 Soba Noodle-making Party Held at Children's Nursing Home

A traditional soba noodle-making party was held on 2 April at a local children's nursing home in Tokai city, which has been supported by Toyofuji for many years. The party is held annually as an important part of Toyofuji's social contribution activities. Together with Toyofuji executives and employees the children each experienced noodle-making, enthusiastically kneading the buckwheat flour into dough, rolling it out, and then cutting it with a knife. Later, they enjoyed eating the noodles they had diligently made during the event, which encourages cooperation among the children. Smiling throughout the event, the children were clearly enjoying their spring vacation and this will surely be a day for them to remember.
