Oceangoing vessels function as a worldwide system providing the nearest country with weather information observed at sea, in what is referred to as maritime weather observations or weather reports for ships.
Oceangoing vessels operated by Toyofuji also cooperate in this effort. The company was recently recognized for our active cooperation in providing information from our TRANS FUTURE 5, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the Japan Meteorological Agency's Directory-General designating the ship an "vessel of excellence in observing marine weather conditions."

March 2020 Toyofuji Receives Toyota "Outstanding Cost Reduction Award"
Toyofuji Shipping was awarded the "Outstanding Cost Reduction Award" by Toyota Motor Corporation. This is the second time Toyofuji has received the award, after the company was similarly honored in 2015 for "Improvements in Southeast Asia Shipping Routes."
The improvement measures that earned the company this award in 2020, "Cost Reductions in East Asia Shipping Routes," involved leveraging the special features of the Toyofuji-designed vessels Trans Harmony 1 & 2 to maximize transport efficiency and improve routes. These measures were recognized as contributing to reducing costs in Toyota's vehicle logistics.
Encouraged by this award, Toyofuji will continue with its efforts to improve while suggesting further plans to Toyota.


February 2020 Naming and Launching Ceremony Held for New 2,000-Vehicle Car Carrier Vessel (Jointly Owned Vessel for Domestic Routes)
On February 7th, a naming and launching ceremony was held for Toyofuji Shipping's new 2,000-vehicle car carrier vessel at Naikai Zosen Innoshima Shipyard in Hiroshima Prefecture.
Witnessed by invited guests and members of the general public, the enormous vessel was christened
"HOYO-MARU" and safely completed its launch into the waters.
After outfitting is completed in June, plans call for the ship to begin sailing between Tohoku and Kyushu, increasing our transport capacity and enabling even safer, higher quality transport systems.
December 2019 Support for Child Welfare Facility
Every year, Toyofuji Shipping presents donations to Akatsuki Gakuen, a local children's home in Tokai City.
On December 25, company representatives visited Akatsuki Gakuen, where Toyofuji President Tokuyuki Takahashi presented Director Osamu Hishida with a donation comprising company contributions, funds collected from employees and directors through in-house donation drives, and charity bazaar earnings. The company also prepared a collection of assorted treats and presented them as Christmas gifts, which were gladly received with many a smile.
Toyofuji has continually provided support to this facility since 1994. The company intends to carry on with this support so that the children may have a bright and happy future.
November 2019 Toyofuji Exhibits at Messe Nagoya 2019
Toyofuji participated in "Messe Nagoya 2019" trade show November 6-9 at Port Messe Nagoya, the 14th such four-day event held there.
For this year's show, we wanted our young employees to participate in the event from the planning stages. This meant not merely having them introduce the company's business with posters and the like, but rather creating content giving visitors to our booth a more concrete description of our business with comprehensive video featuring our young employees.
We sincerely thank the many visitors who stopped by our booth during this year's trade show.
October 2019 Toyofuji Holds 33rd On-Board Disaster Drill Demonstration
On October 4, Toyofuji Shipping held the company's "33rd On-Board Disaster Drill Demonstration," conducted under the instruction of the Nagoya Coast Guard Office and Tokai Municipal Fire Department aboard the TRANS FUTURE 6 (shipowner: Kagoshima Senpaku Kaisha, Ltd.), in port at Toyota Motor Corporation's Meiko Center. The drill was attended by some 80 individuals, including representatives from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Chubu District Transport Bureau, Toyota Motor Corporation, and other affiliated companies in the industry.
Various types of training were conducted, including drilling in extinguishing fires by crew members, spraying water from fire hoses on the Nagoya City Fire Department fireboat "Kinryu" to cool the vessel, use of a Tokai Municipal Fire Department hook-and-ladder truck to evacuate injured personnel, airlifting of injured crew members with the Nagoya Coast Guard Office helicopter "Kamitaka" based at Chubu Airport, and crew members lowering lifeboats used in abandoning ship.
We thank everyone for their tremendous cooperation in making this high-intensity training a success. Toyofuji Shipping will continue in further efforts to increase safety awareness and prevent disaster with the aim of achieving "zero accidents and zero disasters."

May 2019 Toyofuji Holds Bon Voyage Concert 2019
On May 29th, the 2019 Toyofuji Bon Voyage Concert was held at Aichi Prefectural Art Theater's Concert Hall, the twenty-first time that Toyofuji Shipping has sponsored this musical event.
This occasion marked the twenty-first such performance since the first Bon Voyage Concert in 1998, held as an event to express our thanks to the many customers and client firms on whose patronage we constantly rely.
For this concert, conductor Maiku Shibata led pianist Aya Nagatomi and the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra in delighting the audience with Tchaikovsky's "Piano Concerto" and a selection of other works that heralded the "opening of the New Era."
May 2019 "2019 Toyofuji Shipping Safety Convention" Held
Toyofuji Shipping recently had the company's 47th annual Safety Convention on Tuesday, May 14 at the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel.
this year's convention was attended by a total of 11 guests, including Kyogo Onoue, Field General Manager in Toyota Motor Corporation's TPS Group, as well as top executives from our partner port services companies and other affiliated companies in the marine transport industry.
In the first part of the program, Masahiro Seri, General Manager of Toyota Motor Corporation's Vehicle Logistics Division, presented a lecture titled "Developing Employees Who Observe Safety Rules Designed to Ensure Zero Accidents with Transported Cars."
The second part of the program included an awards ceremony, with awards presented for operations achieving zero accidents thus far, conferring of of the "Toyota Prize,"
and presentation of the ECO Award for vessels that have contributed to energy-conserving shipping operations.
Going forward, we will steadfastly continue to work together with our partner companies, taking the lead in activities to achieve our goal of "zero accidents."

March 2019 Soba Noodle-Making Party Held at Akatsuki Gakuen
Toyofuji Shipping held an annual soba noodle-making party on Wednesday, March 27 at Akatsuki Gakuen, a local children's nursing home in Tokai City.
This was the 20th such party held, with instruction again being generously provided by the traditional Nagoya soba restaurant "Yasue."
The children were very familiar with the soba-making process, while the adults were at times a bit baffled by it, yet an enjoyable time was had by all.
The company that this experience leaves everyone with wonderful memories as we continue in our support for this event.


February 2019 Toyofuji Receives Award for Excellence at 2019 Aichi Environment Awards
Toyofuji Shipping's vessel "TRANS HARMONY 1" has earned the company the Award for Excellence at the "2019 Aichi Environment Awards" (sponsored by Aichi Prefecture, co-sponsored by the Environmental Partnership Organizing Club (EPOC) and the Chunichi Shimbun). Toyofuji President Tokuyuki Takahashi accepted the award certificate and trophy from EPOC Chairman Koei Tsuge at the conferment ceremony held on Thursday, February 14.
Established in 2005, these prizes are awarded to companies, organizations, and groups in recognition of technologies, business operations, activities, and educational efforts aimed at reducing environmental impacts. Toyofuji is the first marine transport company to have been thus awarded.
TRANS HARMONY 1's state-of-the-art environmentally friendly equipment and technologies are designed to improve fuel economy and purify seawater, and their effectiveness in reducing energy use and preventing marine pollution during transport are recognized as making significant contribution in establishing a low-carbon society and preserving our marine environment. This award follows another award for this same ship—the "Ship of the Year 2017 Large Cargo Ship Award," which we received in July 2018.
As a green company, Toyofuji will continue in our commitment to the global environment.
